Nehemia 1:6

1:6 may your ear be attentive and your eyes be open to hear the prayer of your servant that I am praying to you today throughout both day and night on behalf of your servants the Israelites. I am confessing the sins of the Israelites that we have committed ¹  against you – both I myself and my family ²  have sinned.

7:8 the descendants ³  of Parosh, 2,172;

Nehemia 8:1

8:1 all the people gathered together ⁴  in the plaza which was in front of the Water Gate. They asked ⁵  Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses which the LORD had commanded Israel.

Nehemia 9:32

9:32 “So now, our God – the great, powerful, and awesome God, who keeps covenant fidelity ⁶  – do not regard as inconsequential ⁷  all the hardship that has befallen us – our kings, our leaders, our priests, our prophets, our ancestors, and all your people – from the days of the kings of Assyria until this very day!

Nehemia 13:5

13:5 He made for himself a large storeroom where previously they had been keeping ⁸  the grain offering, the incense, and the vessels, along with the tithes of the grain, the new wine, and the olive oil as commanded for the Levites, the singers, the gate keepers, and the offering for the priests.

Nehemia 13:15

13:15 In those days I saw people in Judah treading winepresses on the Sabbath, bringing in heaps of grain and loading them onto donkeys, along with wine, grapes, figs, and all kinds of loads, and bringing them to Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. So I warned them on the day that they sold these provisions.

[1:6]  ¹ tn Heb “have sinned.” For stylistic reasons – to avoid redundancy in English – this was translated as “committed.”

[7:8]  ³ tn Heb “the sons of.”

[8:1]  ⁴ tn Heb “like one man.”

[8:1]  ⁵ tn Heb “said [to].”

[9:32]  ⁶ tn Heb “the covenant and loyal love.” The expression is a hendiadys. The second noun retains its full nominal sense, while the first functions adjectivally: “the covenant and loyalty” = covenant fidelity.
